iQOO Z7 Pro launch: 4 reasons to buy, 1 reason to skip

With the launch of the new iQOO Z7 Pro, iQOO is set to take on the OnePlus Nord CE 3 in the mid-range price category. The iQOO Z7 Pro not only offers top-notch performance but is also priced better than its biggest rival, the OnePlus Nord CE 3. For perspective, the base 8GB + 128GB storage variant is being offered at a limited-time effective price. Rs 21,999, the top 8GB + 256GB storage variant is being offered at Rs 22,999. This makes the iQOO Z7 Pro cheaper than both the variants of the Nord CE 3 by Rs 5,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively.

So, if your budget is under Rs 25,000 and you are looking for a solid mid-range smartphone, let us give you 4 reasons why the iQOO Z7 Pro should top your wish list and 1 reason why should you do this? Leave it.

First, we know iQOO Z7 Pro: 1 reason to skip

Some missing things: While I don't think there is a big reason to skip the iQOO Z7 Pro in a budget under Rs 25,000, there are still a few things missing that could have turned this otherwise great phone into a perfect phone. phone in its price segment. The first thing missing is the dual speakers. So, the iQOO Z7 Pro has a single-bottom firing speaker and it has good output. I mean, it's loud and that should be fine for most people, but it clearly lacks the depth offered by a dual-speaker setup. The other thing missing is an ultra-wide-angle camera. So, as good and reliable as I found the camera setup of the iQOO Z7 Pro, I felt the lack of an ultra-wide angle camera for capturing wider scenes or fitting multiple people in a single frame.

iQOO Z7 Pro: 4 reasons to buy

Sleek and stylish design:

The iQOO Z6 Pro had a curved rear panel, which was plastic, while the front was flat and had a large chin. However, the iQOO Z7 Pro does a lot of things better than its predecessor. For starters, it features a dual-curved display with shock absorption protection, as well as slim and almost symmetrical bezels. The rear has a matte glass finish which is smooth to the touch. Again, it gives a very premium feel and is curved on both sides as well.

The phone is quite thin and very light to hold. For its price, it has an IP52 rating. The raised camera island is still there, although there are now 2 lenses instead of 3, and a ring flash. Overall, yes, the size of the iQOO Z7 Pro has become bigger than the iQOO Z6 Pro, but there is no doubt, the company has paid attention to the details while crafting this smartphone. Clearly, the iQOO Z7 Pro is currently the best-looking smartphone in the under Rs 25,000 price segment.

Gorgeous AMOLED display:

The iQOO Z7 Pro brings major display upgrades compared to its predecessor, the iQOO Z6 Pro. So, you get a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display, which has clearly grown in size. But, beyond that, it's up to 1300 nits brighter, has a 120Hz refresh rate, the panel is 10-bit and has support for HDR10 video playback. So, when it comes to consuming content on YouTube or OTT or while playing games, the display looks gorgeous.

In fact, when it comes to display quality, as I said, the iQOO Z7 Pro has a top-notch screen – with support for Widevine L1, HDR10 playback, 10-bit colour and the likes. However, there is one thing that can make the multimedia experience on the iQOO Z7 Pro even better than before. I'm going to mention this in the "1 reason to leave" section below.

Solid performance:

The iQOO Z7 Pro is powered by the new 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, coupled with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. And despite featuring a slower storage type than the faster UFS 3.1 storage used in the Nord CE 3, the iQOO Z7 Pro still managed to post similar or sometimes better benchmark scores to the Nord CE 3.

Overall, with Funtouch OS 13, a 4,600mAh battery, and 66W fast charging support, performance is one area where the iQOO Z7 Pro delivers at all times. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that this smartphone is one of the best-performing smartphones in the sub-Rs 25,000 price segment right now. Be it general performance, playing graphics-intensive games like COD: Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends or maintaining good thermal levels during long-term usage, the iQOO Z7 Pro will definitely impress you with its solid performance.

Reliable camera:

The iQOO Z7 Pro might not have the most versatile camera setup, but with its 64MP primary rear camera and 16MP selfie snapper, one can expect reliable camera performance. In my testing, I found the rear camera to capture some of the best-looking pictures I've taken with a phone under Rs 25,000 in a long time. The iQOO Z7 Pro not only impressed me with its great camera performance in inadequate lighting conditions, but the phone proved to be impressive in clicking pictures even in the best of lighting conditions.

Additionally, the selfie camera is also quite good, and if you are someone who loves posting social media-worthy selfies, then you will definitely appreciate the results captured by the iQOO Z7 Pro. As far as video recording capabilities are concerned, 4K footage captured from the rear camera looks great. However, one area where camera performance needs some tuning is 1080p video recording from the front camera. So, I hope iQOO fixes it soon, probably with a software patch.
