Apple plans to upgrade its iPad Pro lineup in early 2024 with new display technology and chipsets. According to Apple analyst and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the next iPad Pro model will be available in two sizes, starting with the 11-inch iPad Pro. , However, the larger iPad will feature a relatively larger 13-inch display instead of the current 12.9-inch screen. The new Pro tablet may feature an upgraded M3 SoC.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that the upcoming iPad Pro models will feature OLED display panels instead of LED panels. Apple also uses the former display technology on iPhones, which enhances the viewing experience with richer colors. Generally, OLED displays display brighter colors and deeper blacks. They can also help conserve battery because each pixel is managed individually.

The newsletter doesn't shed light on major design changes, though it does claim that Apple may refresh the Magic Keyboard accessory. "The new accessory makes the iPad Pro even more like a laptop than the current setup," Gurman says, and adds a larger trackpad. It addresses a complaint about the current Magic Keyboard, which debuted in 2020. "

Why the major iPad Pro upgrade?

Like other tablet OEMs, Apple too is struggling in terms of sales. Shipments of both PCs and tablets have been declining globally over the past few quarters.

Furthermore, customers may also find it confusing to choose between a Mac and an iPad, even though there are clear differences between the two, such as the touch screen and software experience. The iPad Pro lineup can also be confusing for customers, as the two Pro models differ mainly in terms of display technology. Despite the powerful chipset, the MacBook Air may seem more versatile than the iPad.

Gurman reiterated that Apple's next big launch could be on September 12. We can expect the launch of new iPhone models (iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro). All new iPhones are expected to feature USB-C port for charging. The regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may also feature a new display notch. Apple may launch new Watch models on 12 September.

There's also another launch scheduled for October - possibly for the first M3 Mac - but it could be a soft launch rather than a grand-scale offline event.
