WhatsApp is bringing new text formatting tools to messaging
New Delhi: Messaging platform WhatsApp is developing new text formatting tools for messaging, according to online reports. The report states that the new feature, which will be released soon, will include syntax for blocking code snippets, quoting specific text, and creating text lists.
According to WABetaInfo, the "code block" functionality should make sharing and viewing lines of code across platforms more straightforward and readable.
It will be useful for programmers, software developers, and anyone else who shares code snippets with others.
The Meta-owned platform hopes to address the issue of code snippets being shown in a misleading manner with the help of this tool. The "quote" function is intended to make it easier for users to go back and read certain chat conversations. The new tool will be different from the current Quote Message function as it will let users highlight a particular piece of text.
Users may be able to create a list of items using a third formatting tool. Last week it was revealed that the messaging app has started rolling out the caption message editing function to iOS and Android. Users can update captions for movies, GIFs, and documents using this tool, within 15 minutes of a message being delivered. However, editing a message with captions can only be done on the device from which the message was sent.
Also, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder, and CEO of Meta, announced that WhatsApp users can now send photos in HD quality.
The company had said that while the HD photo feature is becoming available globally, HD video will also be coming soon.
